Well, it's been a strange couple of months since my last post. PJD -- bless your heart! -- reminded me that I ought to be holding myself accountable, but life has, again, stood in the way of progress.
At first, it was just my hours at work changing, which upset my exercise schedule. I've learned the hard way that exercise is the only way my body really loses weight. If I just diet, it just comes back. So I know I need to exercise.
But just as I got back into a revised exercise schedule (which, to my shame, took a month), I sprained my knee -- that's what I get for agreeing to a basketball game with The Boys when I hate basketball! -- badly enough that I'm still wearing the brace. Sure, I can exercise my arms (and I have been), but the physical therapy I'm doing is to improve mobility...and it's in small quantities. It's not meant for weight loss or even to build strength, but to keep the stretched muscles and tendons from permanent injury.
So, since I've basically been on hold, so has my poor blog. Until I get my knee back on track, I don't see any point in relaying that I've lost or gained the same five pounds at least five times in the last three months. Insert great, heaving sigh here.
I'm tempted to erase the earlier posts here and just start over when the doctor okays actual exercise. Or just start the Day Whatever count over again. Or just delete the whole thing and maybe/maybe not start another from the very top.
I will say that hefting around a calf-to-thigh, metal-lined leg brace does wonders for making me huff and puff! That has to count for something, right?
